Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Doctor of Ministry Thesis-Project
Abstract: Church leaders have asserted that there is a lack of discipleship in the church. What is this widely used word ‘discipleship?’ How does it differ from disciple making? What does Scripture teach us? What can history teach us? What may we learn from Jesus and His disciples? Why did disciple making exist so sacrificially, and then appear to fade? Why is it largely missing today and what can be done to correct the problem? Leaders of smaller congregations want a concise model for disciple making, where is it? This project culminates by proposing a simple, adaptable, duplicatable model of congregationally based disciple making.
